DEMAND growing at 300 per cent during the past three weeks has magnified need and endorsed Geelong Food Relief Centre’s opening of a central city minimart.

Operations manager Collin Peebles said people keep coming through the door at the new location in Little Smythe St on referral from agencies including SalvoConnect.

Volunteers now help about 70 people a week, each probably shopping for a further three or four people.
